Project Details
The St. Croix County Government Center expansion and renovation in Hudson, Wisconsin, reimagines a civic campus that balances long-term functionality with an open, welcoming public presence. The project combines a 142,000-square-foot expansion with the renovation of 166,000 square feet of existing space to meet operational and security needs for the next three decades.
Located on a prominent hilltop site, the design organizes new north and south additions to integrate secure parking and service access, preserving the integrity of the main public approach. Internally, the reconfiguration establishes a clear circulation framework that separates public, staff, and secure movement while enhancing the user experience for residents seeking county services.
The renovation relocates and updates the courtrooms on the main level, introducing advanced security features, improved technology, and dedicated circulation for judicial staff. Interior spaces use white oak paneling and light finishes to reflect transparency and accessibility, while the exterior continues the existing red brick and precast aesthetic to unify old and new.
Completed in 2025, the revitalized facility provides a modernized, efficient, and enduring anchor for county governance.
